To see the manufacturer's detailed specification click the accelerometer type number.
To see the accessories typically included in Bruel & Kjaer accelerometer hire kits - click here.

** The 4505 has an integral UNF 10-32 stud and includes a DB 3585 mounting bracket, a 1.2 m accelerometer cable with microdot connectors, but no other accessories.

Accelerometer are fairly robust but the cables are easily damaged, so please take care as any damage must be charged for and usually means a replacement cable.

Voltage sensitivity depends on the capacitance of the accelerometer and the cable - we show typical values for 1.2 m cables. Charge sensitivity is independent of cable length. To convert the sensitivities to 'g' use the relationship : 1 g = 9.81 ms-2 : for example 8 mV/ms-2 ≈ 80 mV/g or exactly 78.48 mV/g

*** We stock both the B&K JJ 2615 and the Nor 1447 preamplifier input adaptors.

There are two main types of accelerometer, the traditional piezoelectric [PE] charge accelerometer and the Line Drive type, sometimes called ICP, DeltaTron, Isotron, Constant Charge Line Drive [CCLD] or other trade names. The official name for these types is IEPE = Integrated Electronic Piezo Electric and because of the internal electronics the analysis equipment must include suitable power supplies. To avoid confusion and keep life simple, all the B&K accelerometer kits we supply and listed above are the piezoelectric charge type for direct use with both voltage or charge amplifiers.

We also stock Metra general purpose IEPE line drive accelerometer kits.

Metra KS76   Accelerometer Kits - IEPE Line Drive type £ 4 a day *

Metra KS 76 are general purpose IEPE - Integrated Electronic Piezoelectric accelerometers, supplied with a range of accessories: also know as ICP or Integrated Circuit Piezoelectric - see the above notes.

Ideal for use with a B&K 2250 meter which has built-in engineering units and can be supplied with the FFT option for narrow band analysis -

Vibration Measurement using a Sound Level Meter

Sound level meters can also be used for measuring vibration if the microphone can be replaced with an accelerometer. To measure low frequency vibration the meter should have a Linear or Flat setting or include the appropriate filters

The Nor 110 Sound Analyzer is a good example of this, as it has both engineering units and vibration analysis filters built-in. It also measures down to 1 Hz. With other meters, the acceleration levels may be in dB, but they are easily converted. For further information on using a sound level meter for vibration monitoring, plus a vibration monogram and a dB to engineering units conversion chart, visit our download page.

The B&K 2250 also has built-in engineering units and can be supplied with the FFT option for narrow band analysis.

If you already own a suitable meter, we also hire input adaptors as well as accelerometers and calibrators *** see above.

B&K 2635   Charge Amplifier £ 12 a day *

Multi purpose, low noise charge amplifier and signal conditioning unit. Ideal vibration front-end for DAT recorders, analyzers etc., with BNC output.

Frequency Range 0.2 Hz to 100 kHz with adjustable upper and lower frequency limits
+ internal oscillator for system calibration
