Vibration at Work

The Vibration at Work Regulations require the vibration of hand tools and vibrating platforms are measured to establish they are 'safe'.

Factories also have a responsibility not to annoy their neighbours, see our environmental vibration monitoring section .

This page briefly describes the most popular vibration at work meters and analysers. For more details, calibrators and other accessories, click the relevant link.

See also our Vibration Survey Kits and a Noise at Work section.

B&K 2250 Noise and Vibration at Work Meter £ 30 a day *

The B&K 2250 Sound Analyzer doubles up as a Vibration Analyzer if you add an accelerometer set.

The 2250 meter has built-in engineering units so you can read directly in vibration units.
All our 2250s also include the BZ 7223 Frequency Software to analyse the vibration levels in real time.
For narrow band analysis see also the BZ 7230 FFT - Fast Fourier Transform version, detailed below.
All our 2250 meters also include the BZ 7226 Recording/Signal Capture feature to SD Card.

Delivered with an input adaptor and a B&K 4370 general purpose accelerometer set, unless you select an alternative from the same list.

We recommend you add a B&K 4294 Calibrator Exciter, it provides a stable acceleration of 10 m/s2 at 159 Hz.

B&K 2250 details

B&K 2250 FFT Analyzer - Noise and Vibration at Work Analyzer £ 37 a day *

Frequency analysis based on the Fast Fourier Transform [FFT] algorithm is the tool of choice for measurement and diagnostics of machinery noise and vibration. The frequency 'profile' of a machine is its fingerprint, revealing its sources of noise and vibration and their paths to the measurement position.

The 2250 with the BZ 7230 FFT software has many narrow band features :-
Real time operation [no loss of data] up to 20 kHz.
100 up to 6400 lines giving a resolution down to 16 mHz
  Linear and exponential averaging
  Signal capture and recording
Engineering units, SI metric and UK imperial units
  Acceleration, velocity, displacement .......

Plus Max hold, spectrum overlay, zoom, tachometer function, trigger, transient and continuous signals, RMS, PWR, PSD, ESD, Peak, P-P ...... etc., software also included for analysis, reporting and downloading to a PC.

Delivered with an input adaptor and a B&K 4370 general purpose accelerometer set, unless you select an alternative from the same list.

We recommend you add a B&K 4294 Calibrator Exciter, it provides a stable acceleration of 10 m/s2 at 159 Hz.

  hand arm vibration - HAVS
  vibration white finger - VWF
  whole body vibration - WBV

Includes a 3-axis accelerometer, hand arm attachments, charger and download software.

To measure whole body vibration exposure add the 4515-B-002 Seat Pad below.

more details, hand arm and whole body kits see also the Larson Davis HVM100 Meter below

B&K 4515-B-002 Triaxial Seat Pad - for whole body vibration measurements £ 10 a day *

Specially designed for the measurement of whole body vibration exposure with the 4447 analyzer above. A triaxial accelerometer housed in a semi-rigid rubber disc and complies with ISO 7096, ISO 2631 and ISO 10326-1. It can be placed under a seated person, on a vibrating surface, or strapped onto the body. It detects vibration in directions along the body, back-to-front, and side-by-side - more details.

DI 2200 Diagnostic Instruments - FFT Analyser - Dual Channel

DI have withdrawn support for their 2200 FFT analyser. Over the years this analyzer built up a well deserved following; so rather than just remove it from our list we will retain this entry for a while to explain the situation and point returning DI-2200 customers towards it's worthy successor - the B&K 2250 with the FFT option.
